The “MystOri”-”MyStory”-”Mystere” of the Crab

A single crab will escape; but if his brethren are in the bucket with him; they will pull him down.

When the Indigenous Ancestral Order (IAO) of Elders of the Praise House Yard bestow beads on the baptized, they admonish the children as follows, paraphrased:

“Remember what the Lord told us; don’t fight with your brethren; Turn the other cheek - and battle with your brethren only to protect them from themselves. Forgive all things and give leave to the spirit to fulfill the judgment of God. Keep your heart clean that the Spirit will dwell in it as it does the Praise House. To bless, you must be a blessing.”

I fail at this a lot; being a Crab can suck…..

Bre’r Rabbit N GeDe Lazarus were walking one day, when Bre’r Rabbit pointed over at a fisherman and said “Look yah, Lazarus; see what he has in the bucket?”

Lazarus saw a bucket full of crabs with no lid on it. Bre’r Rabbit told him “If you put 1 crab in the bucket, it will escape; so a lid is necessary. If you place multiple crabs in the bucket, when one climbs up to escape, the other crabs and pulls him down; whether out of envy, or to step on him to climb to his height. No one keeps the crab trapped, but the crab. And no one keeps us trapped, but ourselves.”

The world is made from 2 calabash bowls; it isn’t Tupperware. Pop the top; and don’t be a crab.
